Join the Choir!

Join a Sounds Good choir near you this fall and discover a warm and supportive community of adults 55+ who love to sing. During the 15-week session, you’ll learn and rehearse an eclectic mix of seasonal choral music that will challenge and delight. Because nothing makes the holiday season merrier, the session concludes with a festive holiday concert.

Our professional conductors are experts in the training of the older adult voice, and each week they lead a fun and lively, 90-minute practice session, including vocal warmups, breathing exercises, as you learn and practice each song. So join a Sounds Good choir… learn beautiful music, make new friends!

Cost: $195 registration fee includes sheet music, professional direction, concerts, online practice tracks, and concerts. All singers registered for a session are welcome to rehearse and perform with as many choirs as they choose. In addition, every Friday one of our professional conductors holds an optional, online livestreaming rehearsal for singers from all choirs.

Just come and have fun singing. Our professional conductors will help you be the best singer you can be, and you’ll be surprised at how many new people you’ll meet.

Fall Repertoire

Musical selections include “From a Far-Off Land (De Tierra Lejana),” a playful, joyous traditional Puerto Rican song; the majestic and soaring “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” inspired by the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem; “African Noel,” a bright and buoyant Liberian folk tune; and the comforting, lush tones of “I Wish You Christmas.” Learn more about the repertoire here.

In-person choirs

During the summer, we offer 5 choirs in 4 locations; the rest of the year we offer 8 choirs throughout the Chicagoland area.

All registrations include the opportunity to rehearse in as many choir locations, and perform in as many concerts, as your schedule allows! In addition, every Friday we offer an optional online rehearsal.
