Join the Choir!

Broadway’s most iconic musicals inspired the repertoire for the 2025 Spring Session of Sounds Good Choir. Join one of our nine choirs and over the course of 15 weeks, you’ll learn, rehearse, and then perform some of the best choral music ever written for the stage. You’ll also discover and enjoy the warm and supportive Sounds Good community of other adults 55 “and better” who love to have fun and sing.

Our professional conductors are experts in the training of the older adult voice, and each week they lead a fun and lively, 90-minute practice session, including vocal warmups, breathing exercises, as you learn and practice each song. So join a Sounds Good choir… learn beautiful music, make new friends, have a wonderful time!

Cost: $195 registration fee includes sheet music, professional direction, concerts, online practice tracks, and concerts. All singers registered for a session are welcome to rehearse and perform with as many choirs as they choose. In addition, every Friday one of our professional conductors holds an optional, online livestreaming rehearsal for singers from all choirs.

Spring Repertoire

It’s all about Broadway this spring, with hits from iconic musicals such as Hamilton, The Sound of Music, Porgy & Bess, Oklahoma, Singin’ in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, and more! Selections include “Oklahoma’s” glorious and exuberant anthem, “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin;’” the dreamy, ironic “Summertime,” from George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess;” and the comic sunshine of Hamilton’s, “You’ll Be Back.” Learn more about the repertoire here.

Fall and Spring Sessions

During our 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, we offer 9 choirs in eight locations: Hyde Park, Gold Coast, Edgewater/Lakeview, Evanston, Oak Park/River Forest, Wheaton/Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, and Arlington Heights. Both the Sounds Good choir and the Good Memories choir (for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners) rehearse and perform in the Gold Coast. The Evanston Sounds Good choir is dementia-friendly.

Summer Sessions

During our 8-week Summer Rocks session, we offer 5 choirs in 4 locations:

Oak Park/River Forest
Northbrook
Wheaton/Glen Ellyn

Both the Sounds Good choir and the Good Memories choir (for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners) rehearse and perform in the Gold Coast.
