Manny Schenk
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Manny attended Senn High School on the north side of Chicago and started his college education at Purdue University, before finishing it with a B.B.A. at the University of Michigan. In 1964, Manny passed the CPA exam and has been in public accounting ever since, with time out for three years as a controller for two different companies. Currently, he owns his own practice.
Manny started singing with another choir in 2018, and moved to Sounds Good Choir in the summer of 2021 with its virtual concerts. Prior to singing, Manny enjoyed a 30-year career in stage acting with many different groups in the Chicago area. He has appeared in over 80 different productions. A few of his favorite lead roles were “The Sunshine Boys,” “The Diary of Anne Frank,” “Twelve Angry Jurors,” and “Harvey,” where he played opposite an imaginary rabbit. In addition to stage acting, he has performed with Those Were the Days Radio Players for twenty-five years, doing re-creations of old-time radio programs.
Among his other charitable and community activities, he was the accountant for the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, the treasurer of the James Downing Theatre, and has held officer and board positions at two different congregations. At his current congregation, he is the treasurer and involved in fundraising activities.
