About the Sounds Good! Choir

All choirs are now in-person.*

No audition. Come join us!

Sounds Good is what we do all year long! We are the Chicago area’s largest and fastest-growing choral organization for older adults (55+), with 8 choirs in the city and suburbs.

All Sounds Good programs are conducted by veteran professional artists. All rehearsals begin with physical and vocal warm-ups. If you love to sing, come join the excitement. Lifelong choral singers and newcomers—and everyone in between—are welcome. Develop and improve your musical abilities and meet new friends! Singers regularly report how welcoming and supportive our choirs are. Join us today!

If you’re not sure whether this is the right choir for you, please visit the first rehearsal of our upcoming session and give us a try. There’s no charge and no commitment to sing with us for a rehearsal or two at the beginning. (Full disclosure: almost everyone who tries us out ends up staying!)

In addition, we are creating a continuum of choral care for older adults; our Good Memories Choir serves people with early-stage memory loss and their care partners. Our dementia-friendly Sounds Good Choir in Evanston also welcomes people with early-stage memory loss and their care partners.

During the Covid-19 shutdown, when it was clear that people need to keep singing, we created free, weekly online sing-alongs. These are now a regular feature of our programming and are open to all. One sing-along is for all older adults age 55 “and better”, and the other is specifically for people with memory loss and their care partners.

As you can see, there are many ways for you to join the fun!

Because we seek to serve all members of our Chicago area community and understand that some singers may feel more comfortable participating virtually, we offer weekly online sing-alongs in English and Spanish for adults 55+, as well as sing-alongs for persons with memory loss and their care partners.
