Development Director

Rita Kahn

Rita is pleased to join the Sounds Good Choir as the organization’s first Development Director. She holds a master’s degree in education from Dominican University and master’s degree in labor industrial relations from Michigan State University. With twelve years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising, Rita is a seasoned development professional with a strong track record of helping small nonprofit organizations grow sustainably. Early in her nonprofit career, she was the development manager for Oak Park/River Forest Food Pantry where she increased community awareness of childhood food insecurity and raised funds to launch the community’s first summer meals program for at-risk youth. During her ten years at Chicago Hopes for Kids, she served as both development manager and executive director and built a balanced portfolio of funding sources, including individual giving, grants, corporate support and events. She grew organizational revenue by more than 500 percent, added two family support programs and increased full-time staff members from three to eight. Rita has a deep commitment to supporting the health and well-being of older adults and is excited to collaborate with the full community at Sounds Good Choir.
