Sounds Good Choir’s
Mission, Vision & Values

Mission
Sounds Good Choir enhances the well-being of older adults through the joy of singing in a fun, welcoming community.

Vision
Every older adult has a place to sing in a choir.

Our Values

Fun

Singers enjoy being in the choir and see it as a highlight of their week.

Community-focused
Participation in the choir combats loneliness, provides opportunities to build friendships and strengthens a sense of community.

Prevention-oriented
Singing contributes to the physical and mental well-being of older adults.

Accessible
All singers are accepted regardless of physical ability or economic situation.

Compassionate
Sounds Good Choir singers, staff, and volunteers are kind, caring, and have generous hearts.

Encouraging
Conductors help singers to improve regardless of starting point.

Inclusive
Everyone is welcome; we don’t have auditions and singers don’t need to be able to read music.

Welcoming
Sounds Good Choir embraces all older adults, including those facing memory loss, and celebrates the unique lived experiences that each person brings to our community.

Professionally Led
Singers enjoy working with and having access to expert choral musicians and conductors.

Grounded in and Contributing to Research
Programs follow and contribute to the science and discourse about the value of singing for older adults and older adults with dementia.
