Mary Clare Barker
Mary Clare Barker is a Chicago-based, world-traveled pianist, singer, accompanist, and teacher who moves effortlessly among musical styles. At her fingertips is a vast repertoire of classical, jazz, and popular music and she sings fluently in five languages. Ms. Barker earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Western Michigan University and her Master of Music in piano performance and accompanying from Northwestern University.
With vast experience accompanying classical, pop, musical theatre and jazz singers, Ms. Barker is a sought-after performer and accompanist. She has been performing jazz in Chicago’s top night clubs, hotels and restaurants for 20 years including the Knickerbocker, Hotel Intercontinental, The Big House, Orso’s, O’Brien’s or Cornelia’s.
Currently a Music Minister at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, she is also a frequent substitute throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago, and occasionally performs at the Fourth Presbyterian jazz service.
