The Episcopal Diocese of Chicago has a magazine called Thrive. The most recent issue featured a superbly written article by Lu Stanton León about our beloved Sandy Siegel Miller, program director of the Good Memories Choir. In addition to featuring Sandy, the article interviews several singers and discusses how Good Memories fits into the entire Sounds Good! organization.

While this article focuses on Good Memories in its initial Gold Coast location, we are proud to be launching Good Memories in Evanston this fall as well.
Since the article was published, Sandy has passed her final interview and is now a candidate for ordination as a deacon in the Episcopal Church. Big congratulations to Sandy, after five years of discernment! Now she is awaiting an ordination date, likely in early 2020. Right after her candidacy interview, Sandy got on a plane for Rochester, Minnesota, where she and I and Karen Ross (Volunteer Coordinator for Good Memories Gold Coast) attended the Giving Voice Initiative gathering. This was the first convening of representatives from twenty of the affiliated dementia-focused choirs in the USA and Canada. What a great day! We were filled up and inspired by our shared triumphs, challenges, and connections.
It’s gratifying when someone notices your work. It’s doubly gratifying when someone writes it up as beautifully as Lu did for Thrive! magazine. Thanks to her and to all of you who are part of our choir family, who support it, and who cheer us on. This is for you. Happy reading!
