Mark Clarke Fedota

Mark grew up in Jefferson Park and now lives with his wife, Cherie, a floral designer, in Oak Park. Their two children live on the west coast and their five grandchildren are scattered to an equal number of universities throughout the country.

He attended St. Cornelius Grade School and Quigley Preparatory Seminary, and has an AB in English Literature from Loyola University Chicago and a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was editor-in-chief of the Center’s quarterlymagazine Res Jpsa Loquitur. During college, he was dragooned (on the premise of meeting girls) into a  song-and-dance role in Brigadoon where, in kilts, he met Cherie. As a young attorney he handled the formal organization of a suburban community theater group and played stage roles assigned to him in numerous Broadway shows.

His career as a trial lawyer began with John Leahy in Washington, DC, and continued with Philip Corboy in Chicago. In 1973 he joined Max Wildman’s new firm becoming a partner in 1977, eventually leading the firm’s in-house continuing legal education program. In 1990 he formed his own firm which came to be known as FedotaChilders, focusing on the overall representation of physicians, medical professionals, and the railroad industry. He is a past president and board member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and was an active member of the ABA, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Illinois Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Society of Trial Lawyers. He has lectured and taught formally and informally at Georgetown and Loyola.

Late in 2022, at a neighborhood gathering, he was encouraged to try Sounds Good, where he stopped in for a cup of coffee, and was allowed to stay.
